Physical activity is any form of exercise or movement of the body that uses energy. Simply stated, exercise uses the fuel (food) that we feed our bodies. The more active we are, the more fuel we use, and the more successful we are at maintaining a healthy weight.
The Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging stated: “we’ve yet to find a disease state where exercise isn’t helpful”.
Despite the overwhelming and often stated positive benefits of regular exercise, more than 60 percent of U.S. adults do not engage in the recommended amount of physical activity and approximately 25 percent of U.S adults are not active at all.
